Adam Darkins has joined AristaMD and will take on the role of chief strategy officer, according to a statement from the health enterprise software company. Darkins previously spent over a decade at the VA and spearheaded the launch of its telehealth platform.

“The need for innovative solutions to solve our country’s worsening healthcare access problem has never been greater,” Brooke LeVasseur, CEO of AristaMD, said in a statement. “There is strong market demand for eConsult solutions, and Adam’s leadership and experience with large-scale telehealth implementations will support our efforts as we rapidly expand across the country.”

Former Acting Assistant Secretary for Health and National Coordinator for Health Information Technology Dr. Karen DeSalvo has joined the board at OpenNotes, an initiative launched in 2010 to make clinicians’ notes available to patients. DeSalvo has also held the roles of New Orleans health commissioner and vice dean for community affairs and health policy at Tulane School of Medicine, and is currently a professor of medicine and population health at the University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School.

Cohero Heath cofounder Daniel Weinstein has been appointed as CEO of Oshi Health, a digital startup focused on digestive health. His new company launched its mobile app for IBD patients last week, with Weinstein telling MobiHealthNews that his new company’s long-term goal is data collection and personalized interventions.

“I think these digital platforms have the potential to impact and disrupt these spaces like a new pharmaceutical product, or a new medication,” Weinstein said. “There’s evidence that [services like ours] can improve outcomes and reduce costs. … I believe that’s the case in IBD in particular because it’s such an individualized, personalized experience.”

Outcome Health, the digital health media company at the center of multiple lawsuits from its customers and investors, has announced a collection of appointments to its Board of Directors. The four newest members include: Mike Gamson, SVP of global solutions for LinkedIn; Robert Pelzer, former president of Novartis; Matthew Ray, founder and managing partner of Portage Point Partners; and Robert Schriesheim, chairman of Truax Partners LLC.

"We are excited about working with the talented team at Outcome Health to provide doctors, patients and our business partners with a verifiable and dependable platform,” the members said in a collective written statement. “We are gaining momentum as we focus on reestablishing trust in the marketplace and building on our commitment to operational excellence.”

The company noted in a statement that the new additions are “a continuation of Outcome’s commitment to governance, transparency, and operational excellence.”
