Indonesian health startup Prixa has raised $3 million in an investment round led by Telkom Indonesia's MDI Ventures and Trans-Pacific Technology Fund and joined by publicly-listed Siloam Hospitals Group.

WHY IT MATTERS

The fresh funds will be used to scale its platform and user base while supporting its existing B2B customers and improving healthcare access and digital health transformation in Indonesia.

Founded in 2019, the health tech firm runs an AI-powered health management platform where users can access telemedicine services, including booking virtual meetings with doctors, requesting on-demand lab tests and home delivery of medicines.

The company serves approximately 10 million users from insurance companies, corporations and government entities.

Prixa employs a managed-care approach in providing healthcare while also reducing costs for clients. The company also has a "track record in increasing patient's satisfaction by delivering fast and usable teleconsultation service," according to Aditia Henri Narendra, general manager of legal and corporate communications at MDI Venture.

THE LARGER TREND

In April, fellow Indonesian startup Halodoc raised $80 million from a funding round. It used the proceeds for the expansion of its services and solutions in the country.

In other news, Prixa kicked off in March a collaboration with insurance company Generali Indonesia to offer 24/7 teleconsultations for the insurer's customers. The company also secured partnerships with Lippo Insurance and Mandiri Inhealth.

ON THE RECORD

"Prixa's platform was engineered to easily access the most basic of healthcare services through our technology, and we are leveraging our technology to drive a reduction in healthcare costs. We are grateful for the opportunity, through our investors, to impact healthcare through digital primary care, and it is through these humble beginnings we can set the stage for an innovative healthcare industry for Indonesia," Prixia Co-Founder and CEO James Roring said in a statement.

"MDI co-led this financing because Prixa has demonstrated its ability to support insurance companies and hospitals in making medical services more accessible and affordable through its AI telemedicine platform," MDI Venture's Narendra also said.
