California-based Sprinter Health announced its partnership with Firefly Health to integrate its home clinical services into Firefly's virtual primary care.

Firefly's members will be able to receive lab draws, vital checks, electrocardiograms, and diabetic eye exams and food screenings at home through Sprinter's phlebotomists and nurses. Firefly physicians will receive the lab results and notes electronically for review.

The rollout will begin with Firefly patients located in the Boston area.

"Together with Firefly Health, we are helping to condense the time it takes to gather important data that a physician needs into just minutes of a patient's time," Max Cohen, CEO and cofounder of Sprinter Health, said in a statement.

"The result is the convenience and affordability of telehealth combined with high-touch, in-person services needed to ensure physicians have critical information to make an accurate diagnosis and provide the best care."

THE LARGER TREND

The partnership comes a month after insurer Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts announced it would offer a virtual primary care option through Firefly Health or hybrid provider Carbon Health that would be available in the "majority" of its commercial health plans beginning January 1.

The health insurer's members will be able to access primary care, mental healthcare and referrals to in-person providers in their network when necessary with a $0 cost share provided they meet requirements from their plans.

In March, Firefly disclosed a partnership with digital gastrointestinal health startup Oshi Health to offer digital digestive care, permitting Firefly's members to receive access to virtual visits with a care team, including providers, dietitians and psychologists.
