Self Care and Public Health Prevention Measures – #HITsm Chat Topic

We’re excited to share the topic and questions for this week’s #HITsm chat happening Friday, 12/17 at Noon ET (9 AM PT). This week’s chat will be hosted by Maram Museitif (@MaramMPH) on the topic Self-care in Light of the COVID-19 Pandemic and Public Health Preventions.

Our lives have changed forever since the COVID-19 pandemic. The way we live, work and socialize is different now than pre-COVID-19. We live in a new normal that we are all trying to navigate and understand. These changes have caused a lot of stress and hardships on our mental and physical health. As healthcare and public health professionals, we strive to build a healthy, thriving, and equitable system. A health system that will improve access to care and provide the services people need. We have dedicated our efforts to addressing the health disparities and improving people’s lives.

For the past twenty months, our focus has been on combating the pandemic and keeping people safe and well. While neglecting our well-being and health status, many of us are burned out or may have considered leaving this noble profession. It is time we took charge of our health and profession to which we have dedicated our lives. We can only accomplish this goal by taking care of ourselves, our health, and listening to our bodies. Many of us have skipped our annual physical exams throughout this public health crisis. These annual exams are essential for our health outcomes and an opportunity to discuss any concerns we have with our doctor. We are screened for various conditions like cancer, diabetes, and depression. These early public health screenings can save our lives and improve our health conditions. I urge you to take control of your lives and utilize these public health measures for your mental well-being and physical health.

Join us for this week’s #HITsm chat where we’ll discuss the following questions and topics.
