Licensure Compacts: 

Several states have introduced legislation to join the Nurse Licensure Compact, Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Licensure Compact and Interstate Medical Licensure Compact.

Idaho:

HB 62 directs the Idaho Board of Medicine to create a limited license for medical school graduates who have not yet matched with a residency program and designate them as “bridge year physicians.” These bridge year physicians can fill gaps in Idaho’s current healthcare provider workforce. This bill establishes license length, eligibility, qualifications, permitted duties and supervision requirements.

Continued COVID-19 Public Health Emergency Flexibilites

A state plan amendment has been proposed to provide additional COVID-19 coverage for Hawki and Medicaid enrollees after the last day of the national public health emergency period. The proposed amendments have been posted for public comment.

Utah:

Legislation has been introduced to allow an individual who holds a health care license from a different state to provide telemedicine services to individuals located in Utah under certain circumstances.
