Sun is Shining on Healthcare for Information Builders

The annual Information Builders Summit #IBSummit kicked off in Orlando this week and for the company, the sun is shining brightly on healthcare.

In his opening keynote, CEO Frank Vella, made specific mention of the company’s continued success in healthcare over the past year. He also reaffirmed his team’s commitment to the industry.

With over 100 healthcare clients that span over 500 hospitals, Information Builders is already a well-established healthcare partner, but earlier this year, the company made changes to better focus on the healthcare sector. For the first time ever, they created a specialized sales and marketing team dedicated to an industry vertical. Now up to 15 staff, this team lives and breathes healthcare.

Bill Kotraba, Vice President of Healthcare and Strategic Solutions, leads this new team and had this to say: “Healthcare is undergoing multiple transformations around care delivery and cost models.   Managing data on an enterprise basis remains a significant barrier for organizations to lean into this transformation and succeed in today’s environment.  Our commitment to a dedicated healthcare team has allowed us to engage with key healthcare stakeholders that are passionate about leveraging data across the continuum of care.

Further evidence of how important healthcare has become to Information Builders could be seen in the Summit’s agenda. In every time slot, there was at least one session either being led by one of the company’s healthcare clients or by a product expert talking about how to deploy their platform in a healthcare setting. This was in contrast to the prior year when there were only a handful of healthcare sessions.

The 2019 Summit agenda included sessions from:

Jake Freivald, Vice President of Product Marketing at Information Builders pointed to the movement to Value Based Care, the increased focus on Population Health and the desire to better manage patients with chronic conditions, as primary drivers of the company’s growth.

Freivald believes Information Builders is well positioned to capitalize on these trends: “Healthcare organizations have uniquely complex and detailed environments. Getting the data needed for analysis and use cases like population health management can be extremely complicated, and is often non-repeatable. Our goal is to build more intelligence into the process of data acquisition and governance so it’s easier for healthcare organizations to drive up quality of care while containing costs.”

It has been interesting to see how the company’s pre-packaged (yet changeable) approach to data consolidation is resonating with healthcare clients.

Information Builders’ Omni-HealthData offering, comes with over 30,000 data elements that have been vetted with multiple healthcare organizations as being important to operational, financial, clinical and compliance excellence. Their offering also includes over a thousand algorithms that clean and match data as well as dozens of pre-built “on-ramps” that can gather data from back-end systems like EHRs.

“Omni-HealthData is unique in its ability to create a single version of the truth across data assets by managing each step of the healthcare data value chain. “, says Kotraba.

It appears that healthcare organizations are taking notice, as evidenced by the number of Summit attendees rushing up to the stage to speak with the presenters.

Day 2 of Summit awaits and there does not appear to be a cloud in the sky.
