Gillis's sentencing was the result of a conviction for running two illegal "pill mill" operations in the Pinellas and Lee County areas.

The recently enacted law, the Patient Access and Medicare Protection Act, includes a number of Medicare provisions not included in the Consolidated Appropriations Act.
