IT Training for Doctors – Fun Friday

This week’s edition of Fun Friday might be a little bit of an exaggeration. Ok, it might be a major exaggeration, but most IT people have been in similar position. So, I think you’ll enjoy this. Unless you’re a doctor and then you should look away. Plus, IT people should realize that we felt the same way we confronted a CPT or ICD-10 code, but I digress.

Enjoy this week’s Fun Friday cartoon thanks to VM Racks.

The irony of this comic really stands out when I think about a recent discussion I was having with a security expert around 2 factor authentication. They looked at the audit logs and saw how effective the 2 factor authentication was for securing the healthcare application. I then asked how much it inhibited those that needed to appropriately access the application. Still waiting for an answer on that one. Security and accessibility are always a give and take. Hard to imagine a doctor enjoying 2 factor authentication when they already have issues with passwords (and yes, I know those issues are often brought on by bad password policies implemented by IT people). ePrescribing controlled substances has already pushed doctors to 2 factor authentication in many places. So, it’s possible.

Have a great weekend!
