Ever since I’ve started covering the varying wearables and health sensors that were hitting the market, I’ve learned how so many of them just aren’t medically relevant and so most doctors don’t care about that direct to consumer wearable data. The exception to this has been the various AliveCor products which provide medically relevant EKG reading to patients that doctors actually care about.
For those that know the history of AliveCor, they’ve come a long way with their devices from the awkward phone case approach to now the introduction of their KardiaMobile Card. The Card is a single-lead ECG and comparable to the KardiaMobile that others may be familiar with. The KardiaMobile 6L is a six-lead ECG that detects the same arrhythmia but using 6 leads and is also available. Check out the studies for all the various AliveCor devices to see what I mean by how much more medically relevant they are than other health sensors on the market.
While the 6 lead solution is nice, it’s hard to argue with the credit card sized form factor of the KardiaMobile Card. Plus, the card also is sold with a digital subscription service KardiaCare, which gives users extra features like ongoing analyses of their ECG readings by cardiologists and additional determinations (i.e. ability to detect 6 different arrhythmias). Just for reference, the Apple Watch only detects three arrhythmias versus the 6 that AliveCor can do. That makes it a less expensive product than the Apple Watch that does even more diagnostically.
We got our hands on the KardiaMobile Card and tried it out. Check out our AliveCor KardiaMobile Card review in the video below to learn more.
