Becoming More Patient First with Kelli Bravo from Pega

Any shift in healthcare goes slow.  In many ways, this is by design.  We don’t want to make changes that are going to literally put patients’ lives at risk.  While change is slow, it feels like we’re on that slow march to putting patients first in healthcare.  Certainly COVID threw some gas on that fire as patients’ expectations changed.  Along with that, patients retail experience is forcing them to question why healthcare organizations can’t do the same.  The good news is that they can if they have the right focus which puts patients first.

At the HIMSS 2022 conference, I talked with Kelli Bravo, Vice President, Healthcare and Life Sciences at Pega, to learn about the changing expectations of patients due to the pandemic.  Plus, she shares how healthcare organizations are becoming more patient (and member) first in order to meet these changing expectations.  One of the areas she talks about is how technology can bring more self-service to patients and provide faster resolution to their questions.  This is a great example of healthcare learning from things we now enjoy in our personal lives.

One of the other places expectations are changing is around health equity and reducing bias.  The data coming out of healthcare is clear that we can do better.  Bravo shared with us the impact technology can have on driving better health equity and reducing bias.  Plus, she also shares what organizations are doing to future-proof their businesses.

Listen to Kelli Bravo from Pega below to learn about efforts you can do to put patients first so you’re ready for what’s coming in the future.
