I don’t think any of us should be surprised that healthcare disinfection systems are going to be showing their products at the HIMSS Annual conference in Orlando. COVID-19 has pushed the disinfection and safety priorities of every healthcare organization to the top of the list.
One of the disinfection vendors that will be at HIMSS is called R-Zero. You can find them at HIMSS Booth #6961 where they’ll be doing demos of their three products: Arc, Beam, and Vive. Plus, they’ll have a lunch and learn session on “Understanding UV-C’s Efficacy for Disinfection in Healthcare and Non-Healthcare Settings.” At that lunch, they’ll be sharing how UV-C disinfection can enhance a healthcare organization’s infection prevention strategies.
While COVID is driving so much of healthcare organization’s disinfection strategy, it’s important to remember that these efforts were important even before COVID. For example, the R-Zero UV-C solutions can deactivate C-Diff and C-Auris by achieving a 3-log reduction in 7 mins at an exposure distance of 8 ft. COVID will be what drives adoption of solutions like this, but the benefits are going to go beyond COVID.
What’s also interesting about these disinfection solutions is that the R-Zero products can be implemented to provide a 24×7 constant disinfection in a healthcare facility. That’s a big change in how you think about safety and disinfection. Plus, R-Zero products can disinfect air as well as surfaces.
Lest you think there’s not much of an IT angle to these products, R-Zero also includes a dashboard to show which rooms were disinfected. We all know how human error can slip its way into disinfection protocol. A simple tracking dashboard can be a great solution to eliminate human error.
I also learned that R-Zero will be protecting the registration and networking areas at HIMSS 2022. They’re going to have 18 of their Vive products in action during the entire conference helping to keep attendees safe at the event. I hope a number of the vendors work with R-Zero as well and have their products protecting the HIMSS vendor parties.
I’m excited to check out these products in person at the HIMSS conference. Plus, it’s great that people are working to combat things like COVID with these devices in such a well researched way.
