Fraudulent Nursing Diploma Scheme Leads to Federal Charges Against 25 Defendants (Operation Nightingale):
More than two dozen individuals have been charged in the Southern District of Florida for their alleged participation in a wire fraud scheme that created an illegal licensing and employment shortcut for aspiring nurses.

California:
State of Emergency and Executive Waivers Ending February 2023:
Covid State of Emergency is set to end on February 28, 2023. Executive Orders N-39-20 and N-75-20, and associated waivers issued under the authority of the State of Emergency will also expire. Waivers put in place for Medical Board of California (Board) licensees, issued by the Department of Consumer Affairs’ (DCA) ended January 31, 2023, with no extension.

Paper-Based Applications No Longer Provided After 2022:
Effective February 1, 2023, the Medical Board of California (Board) will no longer accept and process paper application forms for the Postgraduate Training License and the Application to Transition from a Postgraduate Training License to a Physician’s and Surgeon’s License. Applications postmarked on or after February 1, 2023, will be mailed back to the applicant with any payment received.
Oregon:
License Suspensions and Terminations of Orders by Operation of Law and Continuing Education Deficiencies:
Oregon Administrative Rule 847-001-0035 has been amended to expand the reasons for which the Executive Director or Medical Director may issue final orders. The Executive Director or Medical Director may now issue final orders of license suspensions and reinstatements for continuing medical education deficiency cases.
