Arizona:
Legislation has been passed to update the requirements of Physician Assistants and supervision requirements. Physician assistants who have at least 8000 hours of clinical practice are no longer required to practice with a supervision agreement. This legislation also updates the definition and details of supervision agreement. These updates went into effect December 31, 2023.
Hawaii:
Legislation has been introduced to join the Nurse Licensure Compact. Additional information about and participating states in the Nurse Licensure Compact can be located on their website.

Kentucky:
Legislation has been passed to address a shortage of emergency medical service providers and amends related rules. This bill removes sections on classifications of medical first responders. It expands the ability to license emergency medical professionals who have licenses in another state, as long as they are in good standing and meet the same level of certification. Effective April 5, 2024.
Maine:
Legislation has been passed to join the Physician Assistant licensure compact. It was passed on April 10, 2024 and is pending implementation. The PA Licensure Compact now has nine member states and the compact is in the process of being operationalized. It is estimated that it will take 18-24 months to be ready to support compact licenses in member states. Nebraska:
Legislation has been passed effective April 2, 2024, and includes updates to license compacts, licensing updates, and pharmacy processes and inventories. Highlights include:
- Nebraska has joined the Physician Assistant Licensure Compact and the Dietitian Licensure Compact. The state has incorporated the compact licenses in the Medicine and Surgery Practice Act, and the Medical Nutrition Therapy Practice Act, respectively.
- Pharmacists may update a prescription for a controlled substance after consultation with the prescribing practitioner.
- Pharmacist interns requirements now include a minimum age of eighteen years old.

Legislation has been passed to join the Social Work Licensure Compact, effective May 1, 2024. The interstate licensure compact will go into effect when seven states have become active members. Legislation has been passed to amend the Physician Assistant practice rules. The rule updates clarify the scope of practice for Physician Assistants and adds them to a number of code sections, allowing them to complete practices previously restricted to physicians.
