Free Access to Academic Publishing – Fun Friday

Happy Friday!  I hope all of the Healthcare IT Today community is doing well and ready for the long weekend.  I saw someone on Twitter ask why the week before a short week feels so much longer.  Don’t know the answer to that one, but I wondered the same.

This week for Fun Friday, we have a really timely video from Dr. Glaucomflecken on the big news that came out of Washington about academic publishing.  You’ll see it in the video, but they’re making it so the findings of any research that is funded by the government has to be made available for free (goes into effect in 2026).  Seems reasonable if the taxpayers are funding the research that they’d get access to the results.  Of course, Dr. Glaucomflecken captures the challenges that some will face with this change.

Have a great long weekend!
