Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLCC):

On March 21, 2024, Florida joined the IMLCC as the 42nd member jurisdiction via Florida Senate Bill 7016. The “go-live” date is pending, and will be listed on the IMLCC website when implementation is complete. At that point physicians will be able to list their Florida medical licenses with the IMLCC or obtain a compact medical license.

Idaho: 

Effective July 1, 2024, the Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses (DOPL) will begin to update the registrations of licensees and entities from an annual renewal to a biennial renewal, unless board rules specify the renewal period is longer than two years. The expiration date will be determined by the birth date of the licensee or, for entities, the anniversary of the original license date. DOPL has until 2028 to fully implement the changes in licensure renewal.

Effective July 1, 2024, the Dietetic Licensure Board, Respiratory Therapy Licensure Board, Board of Athletic Trainers, and Naturopathic Medical Board will be combined to create the Idaho Allied Health Professionals Board. This combined board will be advisory to the Board of Medicine to make recommendations to the Board of Medicine regarding licensure, discipline, and rulemaking.

Mississippi: 

The Mississippi Board of Pharmacy has updated student controlled substance registration expiration dates from six-months to one year following the graduate’s graduation date. Student’s with controlled substance registrations that do not have the correct expiration date should contact the licensing division for correction.

Oregon: 

The Oregon Medical Board late renewal period ended on March 31, 2024. Any license that has not been renewed will be assigned a Lapsed license status and the licensee will be ineligible to practice with a lapsed license. Utah: 

Legislation has been passed to create the Division of Integrated Healthcare and the Office of Substance Use and Mental Health which will be responsible for all the duties associated with mental health professions, including: licensing issuance and disciplinary actions; developing, adopting, and enforcing rules and training requirements; implementing public programs; and completing audits and annual reports. The division will also consider licensing portability and make recommendations for joining interstate mental health licensure compacts. Effective May 1, 2024.

Washington: 

Legislation has been passed to update Regulations for Pharmacy Benefit Managers and Health Care Benefit Managers. The legislation provides greater guidance and regulation regarding the responsibilities and restrictions of a pharmacy benefits manager and contracts with participating self-funded health group plans. Effective June 6, 2024.

Legislation has been passed to help address shortages in mental health providers. Regulations have been updated to add Licensed Psychological Associate licenses as mental health providers. The amended regulations outline the licensing requirements and responsibilities of Licensed Psychological Associates. Effective October 1, 2025.
